INDIANAPOLIS – Rexnord workers may see a temporary layoff list posted as early as Monday, according to union representatives.

The list would give employees with the least amount of seniority notice as to who may be among the first to go during the layoff process. Union representatives believe the first wave of layoffs may involve 10 to 25 people.

Officials at the west side plant, which makes ball bearings for machines, announced the company’s plans to move jobs to Mexico and Texas in October 2016.

The news comes just as the Carrier plant also plans to move jobs Mexico.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation will vote Tuesday on a $7 million tax incentive package announced last December that may keep some of the Carrier’s jobs.

Despite the tax incentive package, 550 jobs will still leave the state and head to Mexico by the end of December.
