INDIANAPOLIS - What would have been Indianapolis' 18th annual Rib America Festival has been put on hold.
The music and food festival has been a Labor Day weekend staple in the circle city for almost two decades, but low attendance numbers in recent years have organizers thinking twice about staging the event in 2013.
Festival organizer Dave Lucas told RTV6 the plan is to take just one year off to make some tweaks to the festival and come back in 2014.
Lucas said organizers are working on making the festival "bigger and better" with "really exciting new components."
Lucas said poor weather -- including extreme heat in 2011 and rainy remnants from Hurricane Isaac in 2012 -- has led to poor attendance the past couple years.
