RICHMOND, Ind. -- If you live in Richmond, Indiana and have a dog that barks, it could cost you.
This week, the Richmond City Council approved new restrictions that address howling and barking.
A dog owner could be fined if their dog barks or howls continuously overnight for 10 minutes, or intermittently for 20 minutes.
Between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., it's continuously for 20 minutes or intermittently for 30 minutes.
The fine is $50 for the first offense, $100 for the second offense, $250 for the third and $500 for the fourth and anytime after that.
The amended ordinance took effect immediately.
Asimilar ordinance is already in effect in Indianapolis.
