Country singer Rory Feek wished his departed wife Joey a Happy Mother's Day with another heartfelt blog post.

Rory talked about his life before Joey, as the single father of two girls and how he wasn't fully prepared to handle it all on his own.

Joey, an Indiana native, passed away in March after a battle with cervical and colon cancer. She was 40.

Rory started the Mother's Day blog post with a funny anecdote about what he keeps his guitar picks in.

"I keep my guitar pics on my desk in a little bowl that our oldest daughter made and gave me one Sunday in May when she was probably five or six years old." Rory wrote. "It’s pink and handmade of pottery, and in big grey letters on the outside it says 'Happy Mother’s Day Dad'. It’s one of my most prized possessions."

Those girls are now in their late 20s, but once he met Joey, the two of them gave birth to Indiana, who has Down syndrome.

Rory wrote about what a blessing it was to be able to be a father again, this time with a partner by his side.

But then, he said, "life happened."

Rory ended the post saying that when Indiana falls asleep in her car seat, he'll stop, stare, and still see Joey right by her side, guiding them two of them.

"Thank you for the beautiful gift my love. Happy Mothers Day Joey."
