Man shot after verbal altercation in Rushville

RUSHVILLE, Ind. -- A man is in the hospital after being shot Saturday night after a physical altercation at a gas station in Rushville. 

Police were called to the Country Mark gas station, in the 600 block of West 3rd Street, around 9 p.m. on the reported shooting.

A man was shot once in the abdomen inside the store by another patron after a verbal and physical altercation, police said.

He was transported to Rush Memorial Hospital before being transported by a medical aircraft to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

Police suspect that alcohol is involved in the incident.

No charges have been filed in the case.

The names of the individuals have not been released due to the ongoing investigation.

Rushville Police say they are interviewing participants and witnesses.

No charges have been filed. The Rush County Prosecutor is working with police as the investigation continues.
