CLARKSVILLE, Ind. - Formal charges are expected to be filed mid-week against a man being held in connection with the rape and slaying of a 17-year-old girl.

Clark County Prosecutor Steve Stewart said 49-year-old Richard Carley Hooten will be advised of his rights during a Monday afternoon court hearing. Stewart says he'll ask a judge to hold Hooten for 72 hours until formal charges can be filed.

He said he expects to charge Hooten with rape, murder and criminal deviate conduct in Tara Willenborg's killing.

Hooten was arrested Saturday on preliminary charges of murder, rape and criminal deviate conduct in the Clarksville teen's slaying. Willenborg's body was found in her bed early Saturday.

Hooten remains jailed without bond at the Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville.
