SANTA CLAUS, Ind. - A southern Indiana amusement park is building a new water slide attraction in which riders will go through several twists inside dark tubes.

Officials at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari announced plans Tuesday for the new RhinoBlaster ride as part of $6.5 million in projects planned ahead of the park's 2013 season.

The new water slide will have four tubes following different routes, with the longest going 350 feet with a large outdoor half-pipe style section.

Other projects planned at the park in Santa Claus include 20 additional cabanas, more misters and fans and added shade structures and seating

The park about 35 miles east of Evansville has drawn more than 1 million visitors during recent summer seasons.

RhinoBlaster is part of $6.5 million of improvements planned at the park.

The Pilgrims Plunge shoot-the-chute ride will become part of the water park and will be renamed Giraffica.

“We’re not moving the ride, just the park boundary,” said Holiday World president Dan Koch. “Splashin’ Safari’s entrance will also be expanded, and we’re adding a new style of lockers. This is part of our ongoing effort to improve our guests’ experience here at the park.”

Another new ride -- Kitty's Tea Party -- will be added, along with a larger high-dive pool and a stage and seating area that will replace the theater.
