INDIANAPOLIS -- It’s a new era for the state’s tallest skyscraper.

The grand re-opening for what is now Salesforce Tower in downtown Indianapolis was held on Saturday.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett joined Salesforce CEO Mark Benioff at the new Indianapolis hub on Saturday for their grand re-opening.

"I'm proud for Indianapolis,” said Mayor Hogsett. “I'm proud of Salesforce and their commitment to this city it should go without saying will attract other businesses to locate here as well as attract and retain talent.”

The company announced last May that they would be bringing their regional headquarters to Indianapolis and taking over the former Chase tower.

Salesforce, which specializes in Customer Relationship Management, is bringing a big boost to the city in the form of jobs. The company promises to add over 800 new jobs to their Indianapolis hub over the next five years.

Representatives from Salesforce say the company is also committed to workforce development and they have plans to launch 500 local apprenticeships by 2020.

"We're seeing incredible new technologies like cloud computing but also artificial intelligence which is upending a lot of people's jobs,” said Benioff. “We're going to make sure that what we do is provide workforce training to provide apprenticeships to retrain those people right here in Indianapolis and around the country."

Salesforce employees use technology to help companies store client information on the Cloud.
