INDIANAPOLIS - The Center Grove school board voted unanimously to approve a pay raise and contract extension for the district's superintendent on Thursday evening.
Board members of the Center Grove Community School Corporation voted to extend Richard Arkanoff’s contract from 2015 to 2016 and increase his annual salary from $157,622 to $187,622.
School board members said offering a pay increase is a way to keep their superintendent from being offered more money from another school corporation.
Several parents spoke out against the proposed pay raise for Arkanoff in November.
With the pay increase, Arkanoff will be among the 10 highest-paid superintendents in the state.
School officials said the superintendent did not receive a raise last year.
