Drivers, school bus passengers injured in head-on crash in Madison Co.

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. -- Three students were on board a school bus in Madison County when it crashed with another vehicle Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of State Road 32 and 675 West.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says witness accounts and evidence at the scene shows that a Chrysler 300 crossed the centerline and hit the left front corner of the school bus.  

The driver of the bus was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.The bus was from Guerin Catholic in Hamilton County.

The three juveniles on the bus were all from Anderson.  Two complained of minor injuries and one was not hurt.

The driver of the Chrysler 300, a teenager, was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Indianapolis. The sheriff's office says he was believed to have a serious leg injury.

A relative told officers that the teenage driver had been at work earlier in the morning, felt ill, and was sent home.

State Road 32 was closed in both directions but has reopened.

The crash is still under investigation.
