INDIANAPOLIS - A Washington Township school bus was involved in a crash with an SUV on Indianapolis' northeast side Wednesday.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. near 71st Street and Binford Boulevard between North Central bus 35 and a Chevy Trailblazer.

Three of the 18 North Central High School students on the bus at the time were taken to area hospitals as a precaution. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV, a 53-year-old woman, was also taken to a hospital in critical condition, officials said.

The SUV sustained significant damage, while the bus sustained damage in the front.

The bus driver said the SUV was going the wrong way.

The accident is under investigation.
