INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police are becoming increasingly concerned as the search for a missing 10-year-old girl moved into its second day.

Detectives and IMPD's Missing Persons Unit have been looking for Tatyana Staten, 10, since Friday afternoon.

Staten was last seen just before 2 p.m. in the 4300 block of Elizabeth Street, near Shadeland Avenue and 42nd Street.

Indianapolis police spokesman Kendale Adams said investigators believe Staten ran away from home after she was suspended from school earlier in the day.

Temperatures were in the teens as snow fell overnight, heightening concern for the child's well-being, particularly if she is outside.

"Detectives encourage the public to check vehicles, outbuildings, vacant houses, businesses and other structures that could be used to keep the body warm," Adams said.

Staten is black, 4 feet 5 inches tall and has brown braided hair. She was last seen wearing a black jacket with a pink lining and black shoes.

Police asked anyone who sees Staten to call 911.
