HAMILTON COUNTY and INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - North-side traffic was severely backed up Tuesday morning after several cars and semis crashed on multiple area roadways. Keystone Avenue, in particular, has seen many slide-offs during the morning commute.
Officials said a semi jackknifed sometime around 6:30 a.m. on U.S. 31 near 266th Street. Photos and Skycam 6 video show northbound traffic significantly affected. As of 8 a.m., officials said the semi had been removed and traffic was flowing again.
RTV6's Shea Goodpaster said in addition to the crashed semi on U.S. 31, several vehicles have been sliding off the roadways. He said he saw at least six slide-offs on U.S. 31 between 236th and 266th streets in the 7 o'clock hour Tuesday morning.
At roughly 7 a.m., another semi crash was reported - this time on northbound Keystone Avenue near 116th Street between a car and a semi. That crash scene was reportedly cleaned up by 8, but traffic was still backed up, police said.
UPDATE at 8:40 a.m.: Another crash was reported, this one at 72nd Street and Keystone Avenue. Traffic was reportedly restricted to one lane in both directions on Keystone at this intersection. Officials said a car is on its side in the median.
There were no injuries in the crash on U.S. 31, officials said.
