SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - A Shelbyville man was killed Friday after his car collided with a garbage truck on State Road 9.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Department responded to a call at 2:16 p.m. Friday of a head-on collision on State Road 9, just south of Mill Road in Shelby County.
According to the Sheriff's Dept. report, a 34-year-old Shelbyville man was traveling southbound along State Road 9 in a Dodge Neon when the vehicle unexpectedly crossed the center line – entering the path of a Mack garbage truck.
The driver of the truck was unable to avoid a collision, striking the car head-on. The Neon lost control and came to rest in the roadway facing north. The truck overturned off the east side of the roadway, coming to rest in a ditch.
The driver of the Neon was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old Shelbyville man, was treated for minor injuries at Major Hospital.
Police said it's unknown by the Neon crossed the center line.
