2 shot and killed on north side in 2 hours

Indianapolis police were investigating two fatal shootings on the north side Wednesday night.

Officers were first dispatched to a report of a person shot on the 6400 block of Scenic Court around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

They arrived to find a man in "very critical" condition with a gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Hospital at 10 p.m. He was identified by police Thursday morning as Bryant D. Jackson, Indianapolis.

Witnesses told police they saw Jackson in the front yard of a house chasing a stray dog. Moments later they heard gunshots and the victim dragged to the front porch of the house.

A second shooting was reported on the 900 block of Fairfield Avenue at around 11:15 p.m.

The male victim of that shooting was found in the intersection and declared dead on scene.

Witnesses told police they saw a car leaving the scene driving fast immediately after the shooting.

No suspect information was available for either incident.
