ANDERSON, Ind. - A horse that was shot in Anderson last week was reunited with his owner and taken home Tuesday night.

Sonny had been recovering from his gunshot wounds at Purdue University's veterinary teaching hospital, but he's been released in good condition.

Sonny's mother, Lucy, was also shot but died from her wounds.

Sonny's owner, Bobby Stone, said he is grateful for all of the support he and Sonny received.

"That made me feel good that I had so many people pull together to help me," Stone said. "Otherwise, Sonny would've been a dead horse too."

Stone said people raised about $3,800 over the weekend to help with Sonny's medical expenses.

Anderson police said they are still investigating the shooting.
