INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police have arrested a man accused of shooting at officers who were responding to a 9-1-1 call on Saturday morning.
Jordan Anderson, 21, of Indianapolis, was arrested Saturday on preliminary charges of attempted murder and pointing a firearm in connection with the shootings.
Officers had been called to the Lexington Apartments in the 3900 block of Breen Drive, near the intersection of 38th Street and Post Road, on reports of a man snooping around cars in the parking lot about 4:30 a.m.
When an officer got to the complex, a male suspect took off on foot and led him on a chase.
"The subject turned around, while running, and shot multiple times at the first officer," said Rafael Diaz, Indianapolis police public information officer.
More shots were fired when a second officer arrived and gave chase, police said.
"The suspect fired shots at the second officer, and the officer returned fire, which did not strike the suspect," Diaz said.
No one was struck and there were no injuries, but a police cruiser was hit with bullets.
A SWAT unit was called to the scene, but was called off a short time later. A K9 was able to track the man's scent to a nearby creek, but the trail ended there.
IMPD announced later in the day that Anderson had been arrested and transported to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center.
