RUSHVILLE, Ind. -- Six Rushville Goodwill employees were taken to the hospital with chemical burns and respiratory distress Tuesday after bear repellant was found inside a donation box.
Emergency crews were called to the Goodwill store at 1548 N. Main Street in Rushville on a report of a possible chemical spill.
They arrived to find six employees in need of medical care and suffering from chemical burns and respiratory distress.
It was discovered that a canister of bear repellant had been placed inside a donation box.
The Goodwill employee who first opened the box was sprayed in the face with the bear repellant and suffered chemical burns around his mouth and nose.
A HAZMAT team was called in to safely remove the bear repellant from the store.
