BATTLE GROUND, Ind. -- The memory of Liberty German and Abigail Williams likely wasn't too far from the minds of players, fans and families attending a weekend softball tournament in Tippecanoe County.

14-year-old Libby and 13-year-old Abby went missing on February 13 while hiking along the Monon High Bridge in Delphi. Their bodies were found the next day.Their killer still has not been found

Both girls played softball in the Delphi Summer Rec Program, so tournament organizers thought it was a fitting way to raise money in their honor.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to a fund to build softball fields and a park in honor of Libby and Abby.

Libby German's grandfather, Mike Patty, says the sports complex will be a fitting memorial for the girls.

"So, 20 years from now, some little girl will walk up there, there'll be a plaque that states this park was put here in the name of Liberty and Abby and she'll say, 'Oh, that's why I get to play here today.' Those girls were taken away way to early in life to make their own mark so I feel it's my responsibility to do it. And I think any parent out there would do that as well," said Patty.

Libby German's family has established the 'Libby and Abby Softball Park Fund' through the Carroll County Community Foundation.
