Southbound Monon Trail users to follow brief detour next week in Broad Ripple

INDIANAPOLIS - Walkers, joggers, bicyclists: Be aware. A section of the Monon Trail will be narrowed next week in the Broad Ripple area to allow construction work.
The City of Indianapolis’ Department of Public Works said the narrowing of the trail, which runs from north to south, will restrict only southbound (or western-half) trail traffic toward the beginning of the week.
The restriction, spanning from Broad Ripple Avenue to 63rd Street, should take no longer than two weeks, weather-permitting.
The city said the Monon will be narrowed by a construction fence to allow utility installation work, which will begin at 1002 Broad Ripple Ave. on or around Tuesday.
Detour signs will be placed at the intersections of Westfield Boulevard and Winthrop Avenue, Broad Ripple Avenue and Winthrop Avenue, and also on the Monon Trail to inform users of this temporary situation.
Southbound trail users are asked to use the sidewalk on the west side of Winthrop Avenue to the south side of Broad Ripple Avenue, where they can safely reconnect with the Monon Trail.
