SPEEDWAY, Ind. - A Speedway woman who accidentally bought the wrong scratch-off ticket ended up winning nearly $100,000.
Fannie Watkins said she thought she was buying a different ticket at the Sunoco station at 5208 West 10th St., but when the clerk handed her a Scorchin' Hot 9s scratch-off, she decided to buy it anyway.
That happy accident turned out to be worth $99,999.
"I never meant to buy this one," Watkins said in a news release. "I meant to buy another ticket. I really didn't believe it."
Watkins said she plans to use her winnings to pay off her credit cards and that she's excited to take a trip to Texas to visit family.
"This is amazing!" Watkins said.
