Staying home for spring break: Fun events in Indy for the kids

INDIANAPOLIS - If you decided to stay in town with your family this spring break, your kids will be looking for something to do this next week. That’s where we come in - we’ve compiled a list of some great ideas to keep the kids busy.

To kick things off, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Indianapolis Museum of Art families are welcome to stop by for $5 to experience an art adventure. You can create anything, from a canvas painting to a wooden sculpture.

Saturday, the Historical Society is holding a Circus Day, complete with animals and games. And the public library downtown is hosting members of the Indianapolis opera to perform a free show for kids. It’s an opera about the seven dwarves.

At 10 a.m. Monday, there’s a free concert for kids at the Monon Community Center in Carmel. Also, from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday the public library’s Eagle Branch has a free face-painting workshop.

Tuesday through Sunday, there will be daily pinewood derby car races at the Indiana State Museum, and next Friday the Hoosier Horse Fair kicks off at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Plus, you're always guaranteed a fun day at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
