ELWOOD, Ind. - An Elwood couple has been arrested after police seized more than 170 marijuana plants from their home.
Deputies from Madison and Hamilton counties raided a home in the 11000 block of North 33rd Street on Thursday night after a tip about possible drug activity.
They found a massive indoor growing operation in the home's basement, and seized 111 plants, 70 clone plants and four mother plants, police said.
Investigators also discovered six one-pound bags of processed marijuana, police said.
Stephen M. Stookey, 70, and Marilyn S. Stookey, 69, were each preliminarily charged with possession with intent to deal marijuana, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.
The Indiana State Police Eradication Team was called to the scene to dismantle the growing operation.
