INDIANAPOLIS -- The Butler University community is coming together to support one of its own.

Former Butler University basketball player Andrew Smith continues his battle with cancer.

Thoughts and prayers for Smith are now coming from far and wide.

Smith was one of the cornerstones of Butler's Final Four teams.

He's been battling an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and has been in an out of the hospital several times the past few months.

We saw Smith in attendance at the Butler game against Purdue at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Dec. 19.

Smith was also home for the Christmas holiday. He has since been re-admitted to the hospital.

Thursday, former Butler coach Brad Stevens missed the Celtics game in Chicago. Stevens left Boston to visit Smith in Indianapolis.

Andrew's wife has been tweeting and posting on social media, with regular updates about Andrew's health. Those posts have been shared thousands of times.
