INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police took a suspect into custody Saturday afternoon for the murder of a man at a southwest side bar earlier in the day.
Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, IMPD officers were called to Sully's Bar & Grill on the 1200 block of South Girls School Road for a fight in progress.
As officers were responding, IMPD dispatchers were alerted that gunshots had been fired outside the bar.
Officers arrived to find 34-year-old Michael Willoughby lying in the bar's parking lot with a gunshot wound.
Willoughby was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Detectives learned that a group of individuals, including the victim, had been engaged in a fight outside the bar stemming from an earlier incident inside.
During that fight, police believe that 25-year-old Devin Brookins pulled out a gun and began shooting.
Brookins later turned himself into IMPD Violent Crime Unit detectives for questioning. After an interview, investigators arrested Brookins on a preliminary charge of murder.
