BEECH GROVE, Ind. -- A man who held four hostages in a standoff with Beech Grove police was taken into custody safely Monday night.
The standoff happened around 9:30 p.m. at a home near Kiefer Court and Bend Road.
A Beech Grove Police spokesman said two hostages were released early on during negotiations. Two others were held until the suspect was taken into custody. At least one of the hostages was reportedly a child.
The suspect was later identified as Devon Evans, 22.
He's been preliminarily charged with battery, domestic battery, battery with a child under 16 years old present and criminal confinement.
Police said they were called to the home on a report of a disturbance.
No other details were immediately available.
