SELMA, Ind. -- A man with a long rap sheet remains in the hospital after a shootout with deputies in Delaware County.

Gregory Grider, 28, was injured at a mobile home on East Gloucester Rd. in Selma.  Joe Krupa with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office says deputies were sent there just after 10:30 p.m. Friday to check on the well being of a woman after the woman's mother said she was being held by Grider against her will.

When deputies walked inside an unlocked door, Krupa says Grider opened fire on them.  A deputy returned fire, and the bullet struck Grider in the abdomen.  He was taken to IU-Ball Memorial Hospital, where he remains.  No law enforcement officers were injured, and Krupa says charges against Grider are still pending.

The mobile home was also the scene of a SWAT rain in February the last time Grider was arrested.  Krupa said that incident was the 12th time Grider had been charged with a crime since 2011, with the charges ranging from drunk driving to domestic battery.  Krupa says Grider had three active felony warrants at the time of Friday night's shooting.
