INDIANAPOLIS - SWAT was called to a northwest side apartment complex Thursday morning after a suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment building.
Antwon Stott, 25, holed up when police tried to serve an arrest warrant on him about 8 a.m., officials said.
Hours later, shortly after 2 p.m., police had Stott in custody.
Police said Stott was in the Creekwood Apartments building at 2040 Stoneham Dr., where his girlfriend lives.
Officers were serving a warrant for aggravated assault, but police said Stott also has an outstanding warrant for dealing cocaine.
Stott has a prior conviction related to a firearms violation, and police said they weren't sure if he was armed during the standoff.
As the standoff continued into the afternoon, officers fired about 20 canisters of tear gas into the apartment.
After Stott walked out of the building and surrendered to police, investigators found out that he'd been able to access the building's attic.
Officials said Stott moved through the attic to the other end of the building and got into another apartment unit through a closet. A man and a baby were in that apartment, and Stott told them not to say anything, police said.
Stott could face additional charges of criminal confinement and residential entry for going into the other unit.
