INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis tattoo artists are using their skills to honor the lives of local fallen officers and raise money for the family of Lt. Aaron Allan.
Prestige Body Arts on 16th Street is offering free "Thin Blue Line" tattoos to any officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department or Southport Police Department through August 6.
Any member of the community that wishes to get a "Thin Blue Line" tattoo can also do so with the money from their sale going to the family of Lt. Allan.
"We thought this is an opportunity that we can do something," said James "Gypsy" Sale, co-owner of Prestige Body Arts. "To give to the community and give to the family of somebody and to show that even though people look at us a little differently because we've got tattoos or we have a different lifestyle that we still care, we still care a lot. That's all it's about."

Sale said one of his artists is a former officer who knew Lt. Allan and this week has been especially hard on him. That's why they decided to use the fundraiser as a way to give back and say thank you to the men and women who risk their lives every day to keep them safe.
Lt. Aaron Allan was shot multiple times Thursday while responding to a car crash near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Maynard Drive. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died.
Lt. Allan is survived by his wife and two children.
