WALTON, Ind. - David Sims, a teacher at Lewis Cass Jr./Sr. High School in Walton, has resigned amid allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student.

Southeastern School Corporation Superintendent John Bevan told the Call 6 Investigators Sims submitted his resignation Thursday.

Bevan would not provide details on the allegations, but numerous parents told Call 6 Investigator Kara Kenney that Sims is accused of inappropriate texting with a student.

The School Board held an executive session Monday night to discuss Sims' conduct.

The superintendent told RTV6 they contacted law enforcement, who saw no reason to pursue action based on the evidence.

The school board can accept or not accept the resignation, and is expected to decide at a Dec. 10 board meeting.

Sims has been with the district four years.
