ANDERSON, Ind. - Anderson police have a suspect in custody related to the rape of a woman in her 90s, officials announced Friday.
Police said a 17-year-old was taken into custody on an unrelated charge and is now considered a suspect in the July 17 sexual assault.
The victim told police that the suspect forced his way into her residence and raped her just after 2 a.m.
Police said the woman was asleep in her home near Pulaski Park when she woke up to an intruder standing over her bed.
The woman told her family about the attack, and her family contacted Anderson police, officials said.
Officials said the woman had bruising, but she did not sustain more serious physical injuries.
The teen is on a 72-hour hold, and police plan to release more information on Monday.
