INDIANAPOLIS - A Texas man who was critically injured in a fall at Circle Centre mall in 2009 has died.
Phillip Caler, 20, died Sept. 29, relatives in Texas said.
Caler, 16 at the time, was attending the National FFA Organization convention in downtown Indianapolis when he fell from a third-floor escalator at the mall on Oct. 22, 2009.
He was sitting on a handrail on the third story on the west end of the downtown mall near Carson Pirie Scott when he slipped and fell, hitting the second-floor railing before landing face-down on the lower level, officials said.
Police said foul play was not suspected.
The family has requested that donations in his honor go to the International Brain Research Foundation, Inc.
