INDIANAPOLIS - Six Hoosier veterans were treated to a "big reveal" Saturday as volunteers showed off renovations to their residence, the Jackson House.
Volunteers lead by "The Pit Crew," an IndyCar fan community, joined forces with the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation for a two-day renovation of the veterans' home.
“Supporting veterans and their families is one of the pillars of Panther Racing, and we’re thankful that the HVAF invited us to participate in this great event,” Panther Racing communications director Mike Kitchel said. “Through our partnership with the National Guard we’ve witnessed firsthand the amazing sacrifices these soldiers go through to support our country and we won’t hesitate at any opportunity to support those efforts.”
Renovations to the home included new flooring, fresh paint, a new half bathroom and a freshening up of the second floor bathrooms and kitchen.
The veterans received an additional surprise Saturday: tickets to the Pacers vs. Memphis Grizzlies game, presented by former Pacer Darnell Hillman.
