INDIANAPOLIS -
Thousands of people descended upon White River State Park on Saturday for the 8 th Annual Out of the Darkness walk.
The event was sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Event organizers said 800 Hoosiers take their own lives each year.
Tammy Lundy participated in the walk in honor of her 20-year-old daughter, Nicole.
"Before this happened to me, I never thought it was a possibility. Education is key, and being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes is key,” Lundy said.
RTV6 reporter Stacia Matthews was the mistress of ceremonies at the walk that raised more than $90,000 for research, prevention and support for family members who lost loved ones to suicide.
