INDIANAPOLIS - Duke Energy reported several thousand customers without power south of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon. By early Monday morning, power had been restored.
Outages were reported from State Road 135 to State Road 37 on the west side of Greenwood, with multiple intersections left without functioning traffic lights.
RTV6 reporter Lauren Casey was in the area Sunday afternoon and said power could be out from as far as U.S. 31 to State Road 37.
"From what I've seen, power is out on 135 in Greenwood near Fry Road and it extends all the way out to State Road 37 to the west," Casey said. "People are saying traffic is backed up on Fry Road all the way to U.S. 31. All the traffic lights north of Smith Valley Road seem to be out."
A Duke spokesman said crews were working to restore power to roughly 2,000 customers in the dark.
MONDAY UPDATE: Duke's website reports zero outages in Indiana as of Monday.
The cause of the power outage has not been determined.
