INDIANAPOLIS - More than 28,000 customers were without power at the peak of a widespread outage on Indianapolis' north and northwest sides Tuesday.
Officials with Indianapolis Power and Light said that a static line, meant to protect utility lines, near Lafayette Road and 18th Street, was damaged somehow, causing the sudden outages.

The issue was fixed, and power was restored just after 3:30 p.m.
