Three charged with burglary in Brazil

BRAZIL, Ind. - Three men were arrested Wednesday after a joint investigation by the Indiana State Police and Clay County Sheriff's Department.

Mark Shaffer, 23, of Terre Haute, James Howard, 22, of Terre Haute, and Joshua Johnson, 25, of Brazil, Ind., were arrested in connection with the burglary of a home and barn on West County Road 1200 North in Brazil.

Police said the case originated from an Oct. 19 tip about the three men allegedly possessing stolen property.

While serving a search warrant at the Johnson residence, investigators said they recovered some of the property stolen from the County Road 1200 North burglary. Police also found property they believe to be related to a previous burglary on State Road 340 West in Brazil.

All three men were taken to Clay County Jail on preliminary charges of burglary, a Class "C" felony, and trespassing, a misdemeanor.
