FARMLAND, Ind. -- Three children were found living in a trailer filled covered in animal feces and soaked in urine in Randolph County.

Randolph County Sheriff's Deputies issued a search warrant Thursday at a trailer on the 7500 block of West County Road 300 South in Farmland, Indiana.

Inside, deputies found three children – ages 11, 16 and 17 – living in "deplorable conditions." Deputies said the floors of the trailer were covered in animal feces and urine and the whole trailer was infested with cockroaches. They also found a dead rat lying on top of food in the freezer.

Randolph County sheriff Ken Hendrickson said the trailer was "one of the worst living conditions" he had ever seen in 29 years in law enforcement.

The children's parents, 44-year-old Ralph E. McKinney Jr. and 32-year-old Amy L. McKinney, were both arrested on three counts each of neglect of a dependent.

The children will be turned over to the care of Child Protective Services for the immediate future.

The McKinneys are out on bond, which was set at $5,000 each.
