HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. –  Voters in the Carmel Clay, Westfield Washington and Sheridan school districts approved referendums Tuesday night.

Westfield will now be able to continue with plans to expand Westfield Intermediate, Westfield Middle, and Westfield High School.

Sheridan's referenda replaces an expiring levy passed five and seven years ago.

Carmel’s current $14.5 million operational referendum, that funds programs, was scheduled to expire at the end of 2017. District officials said if the new referendum didn’t pass, more than 260 jobs would need to be cut along with academic programs.

"A big thank you to our community for validating and valuing our children's public education," said Carmel Clay Superintendent Nicholas Wahl. "This vote proves the schools are an integral and important part of our community."

VOTING RESULTS

Carmel Clay: 8,437 (Yes), 1,016 (No)

Westfield Washington: 2,631 (Yes), 2,233 (No)
