Three Hoosiers made Forbes' 2017 list of the richest people in the world

INDIANAPOLIS -- Forbes released their 2017 Billionaires List on Monday, and three Hoosiers made the list of wealthiest people in the world.

According to Forbes, the number of billionaires jumped 13% from 2016-17, the highest one-year increase since they began tracking billionaires 31 years ago.

Carl Cook, 54, of Bloomington is the richest person in the state. He’s tied for 186th on Forbes billionaires list. Cook is the CEO of Cook Group, a distributor of medical devices. He has a net worth of $7.4 billion.

Indiana Pacers owner Herb Simon is the next Hoosier on the list. Simon comes in at the 717th wealthiest man in the world with a net worth of $2.8 billion.  

The third and final Hoosier on the list is Colts owner Jim Irsay. 

Irsay is ranked the 814th wealthiest man in the world with a net worth of $2.5 billion.

And in case you were wondering, Bill Gates topped the list with a net worth of $86 billion. He's followed by Warren Buffet and Amazon.com owner Jeff Bezos.
