Tippecanoe Co. offering free mumps vaccines

Health officials will be at Purdue University Monday, offering free vaccinations to help stop the spread of mumps.

There have been about 50 cases of mumps in central Indiana universities, with five cases at Purdue.

Students and staff can get the MMR shot from noon to 8 p.m. at the France A. Cordova Recreational Sports Center.

Health experts say the MMR vaccine is the most effective way to guard against the mumps.
