LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - Traffic on the I-80/94 ramp from the Indiana Toll Road was temporarily shut down Friday morning when a semi-truck rolled over, losing its load of more than 20 tons of paper waste.
Indiana State Police said the truck was traveling from Minneapolis to Webberville, Mich., with 42,000 pounds of paper garbage.
At approximately 6:50 a.m., the driver of the truck said a car ahead of him slammed its brakes, causing him to brake and eventually lose control.
The truck veered right and rolled over, spilling part of its load in the grassy median along the I-80/94 eastbound ramp. The ramp was closed until 9:20 a.m. for cleanup and accident reconstruction.
The driver of the truck was cited for driving at a speed too fast to avoid a collision.
No one was injured in the incident.
