INDIANAPOLIS — This weekend is full of Halloween events, film screenings, networking opportunities and more for all ages.

We’ve got your top six things to do in Indianapolis this weekend.

1. See a non-traditional film

Many times the best flicks are not those advertised on TV, but those that hit closer to home and can be more relatable. That’s what you’ll find at this year’s Heartland Film Festival showing independent films Oct. 20-30 in various Indianapolis movie theaters. The festival has something for everyone. From love stories, to documentaries to animation films. Some movies even have receptions and cocktail parties before and after their screenings. I forgot to mention tickets are only $9, which beats the $15 or more you’ll spend on the weekend seeing traditional films.

More information can be found at heartlandfilm.org.

2. Double feature

Grab your lawn chair, blanket, and even a warm beverage or two and head to Murat Movie Night this Friday featuring a double feature of John Carpenter's “Halloween 1” and “Halloween 2.” The movies will show on a free-standing, 35-foot screen in the main parking lot of Old National Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show time begins at 7 p.m.

3. Vroom Vroom

If you spend your free time waxing your car, shining the tires or can appreciate a well-built vehicle when you see one, you’ll enjoy Hoods & Hops Car Show in Broad Ripple this Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. The event that attracts more than 100 cars each year, was founded in 2011. It’s all about cars, craft beer and community at Opti-Park in Broad Ripple.

4. YPs: It’s your time to shine

Young professionals, listen up! This Friday night you could spend some time networking with others like yourself while enjoying breathtaking views from the top of Chase Tower. Have I grabbed your attention? Come dressed in your best cocktail attire to Taste After Dark at D’Amore and benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana while participating in wine and bourbon tastings, dancing to music, and more.

5. Stunts set to song

If you missed the Cirque du Soleil show a few months ago, you’ll be happy to know a similar show is back, but with a twist. “Cirque de la Symphonie goes Broadway” will be held at the Hilbert Circle Theatre Friday and Saturday night. Acrobats, aerialists, strongmen and jugglers will perform gravity-defying stunts all set to the sounds of Broadway’s greatest showpieces in this new production.

6. Perfect October night

Imagine the October night: A glass of wine a one of the most popular Halloween movies to date, “Hocus Pocus.” You can enjoy the two during an outdoor screening in the lot between Developer Town and TCC Software at 52nd and Winthrop in Sobro. Vintage Tastings Wine Truck will serve up drinks and free popcorn will be available. The movie will begin after the sun sets but ticket will be taken as early as 6:30 p.m.
