INDIANAPOLIS – In just a few short weeks, students will be back in the classrooms, adults will begin wrapping up their vacations and summer will feel like it has come to an end.

Though the feeling may be strong, summer doesn’t end until September 22 - which means there is still lots of time to play.

Here are the top six things you must do in Indy before the summer winds down.

Visit the Broad Ripple Carnival | BroadRippleCarnival.org
Last year’s carnival was in honor of the state’s centennial celebration – but this summer it’s back by popular demand. From Aug. 10-13, you can hop on as many rides as you want, visit the craft beer garden and support some of Indy’s food trucks. Broad Ripple Park was once home to an amusement park in 1906, and its carousel can be found at the Children’s Museum.

Sail the reservoir |marinalimited.com
Sure, there aren’t any major beaches near Indianapolis, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a day out on the water. Morse and Geist Marinas at Geist Reservoir are available through reservations and on a first-come, first-serve bases. Many boats seat between 9-12 people and allow you to take advantage of swimming, boating and fishing.

Swing through the trees | goape.com
Get a view like never before at the Go Ape Treetop Adventure at Eagle Creek Park. Complete five obstacle courses with each taking you higher into the treetops. Each course ends with a breathtaking zipline to complete the outdoor experience.

Have a picnic…with wine | mallowrun.com
Spread your blanket out and grab a bottle of wine from Mallow Run Winery during their picnic concert series. Each Saturday features live music, drinks and food. Admission is free and complimentary wine tasting is available until 9 p.m.

Pedal your way around the city | The Pickled Pedaler
No, we don’t mean by bike – but by The Pickled Pedaler. Those ages 21 and over climb aboard a 14-passenger beer bike and pedal their way through Indy. The social experience also includes a bar and a space for one friend to serve as a bartender.

Get a view from above | Indyhotair.com
If life is just too much – escape and see the city in a new way during a hot air balloon ride. Indy Hot Air provides experiences for those looking to celebrate family reunions, marriage proposals or just want time to clear their minds. Each balloon flight is 45 minutes to an hour.
