INDIANAPOLIS – This weekend allows you to immerse yourself into a variety of cultures and traditions, all over food, beer and wine.

Here are your top six things to do in Indianapolis this weekend.

Travel to Germany

If you’ve always wanted to go to Germany, here’s your chance (well kind of). Monument Circle will transform into a German paradise when Oktoberfest comes to town Sept. 16 beginning at 7 p.m. You’ll be able to try different German-inspired foods like sauerkraut balls, bratwurst with sauerkraut, grilled hot dogs, ginormous soft pretzels, kielbasa with cabbage, cheeseburgers, potato pancakes, elephant ears, and more. The festival wouldn’t be complete without music, a biergarten, German wines and a cigar bar. This event is free.

Best of both worlds

Over the last couple of years, the Indianapolis art scene has really stepped up their game. This time, they are offering three art events on one day at Art Squared set for Sept 17. The day will include the Fountain Square Art Fair, Masterpiece in a Day and Fountain Square Art Parade. At the art fair you’ll discover the works of local artists and the art parade encourages everyone to participate by building a float or wearing an art-inspired outfit. Masterpiece in a Day allows participants to engage in a day-long writing and art competition to be judged for cash prizes. Did we mention this is all free to attend or participate? Simply bring your art supplies and start creating.

Fly with a stunt pilot

Get up close and personal with vintage aircrafts this weekend as the inaugural Indy Air Expo takes place Sept. 17-18. This family friendly event held at the Indianapolis Regional Airport in Greenfield, will include a kids zone with face painting and inflatables; a car show, and of course the chance to go for a plane ride with a stunt pilot. You can also expect a variety of vendors and food. Funds raised during the two-day event will go toward the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Admission is free for veterans and kids 15 years and younger.

Join the fiesta

Join more than 15,000 people at FIESTA Indianapolis Saturday at the American Legion Mall in downtown Indianapolis. You’ll be able to enjoy a full day of music, dancing, food, children’s activities and more all inspired by Latino culture in Indiana from noon until 10 p.m. A health and wellness fair and community service booths will also be available. This event is free.

Vintage wine and cars

You may want to leave the kids at home for this one. Conner Prairie is known as a children’s oasis but will become an adult retreat this Friday during Vintage Wheels and Wine. You can expect to enjoy a sophisticated evening of gourmet food and wine from top restaurants in the city like Eddie Merlot’s, Seasons 52 and Ruth’s Chris. After the food and wine, you’re invited to explore the museum’s exhibit of rare vintage vehicles, Festival of Machines. Proceeds go toward Conner Prairie’s education programs. This event is for those age 21 and over and requires cocktail attire. Tickets are $75 per person.

Come out for the cause

This weekend the Downtown Indy Canal will turn gold in honor of GoldSplash. The event offers children affected by cancer, their families and the community to come together for a full day of fun activities. Adults can enjoy the balloon launch, while children can participate in face painting, music, magic shows, games, paddle boat rides and much more. The event is held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and is free to attend.
