Top six things to do in Indianapolis this weekend: March 17, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS – If you weren't aware, downtown Indy will be jam-packed this weekend. With the NCAA Tournament and St. Patrick's Day events, there is no reason you shouldn't find something to pique your interest.

Here are your top six things to do in Indianapolis this weekend: 

St. Patrick's Day Parade and Block Party

Downtown - North and Pennsylvania Streets

Friday at 10 a.m.

If you need an excuse to take a day off, Friday will bring you plenty. Grab your friends and family and head down to the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. It will feature high school bands, floats, Irish dancers, bag pipe bands and Irish organizations. A block party on Vermont Street with live entertainment, food and interactive displays will follow the parade.

St. Patty's Scavenger Hunt

Indianapolis City Market – 222 E. Market Street

Friday at 10 a.m.

This one is just for the kids, but you could always join in. Written clues will help guide you through the scavenger hunt, and afterward you’ll have the chance to create a shamrock stamping art project and more.

Ballet Hispanico - Discover Latin Dance

The Center for the Performing Arts - 1 Center Green

Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

This is your chance to learn more about the Latin culture through dance. Ballet Hispánico has played in over 11 countries and is on its way to Indianapolis. The New York-based company is comprised of dancers from places like Venezuela, Cuba, Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.

Brickworld Indy LEGO Expo

Indiana State Fairgrounds – 1202 E. 38th Street

Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Does your little one dream of becoming a LEGO building mastermind? Brickworld will allow them to see millions of LEGO creations that will hopefully inspire their own.

Beauty and the Beast - Disney Costume and Tea Party

IMAX Theatre – 650 W. Washington Street

Saturday at 10 a.m.

You’re not the only person excited for “Beauty and the Beast” to hit theaters – so is the team at the IMAX Theater inside the Indiana State Museum. They will host a preshow Disney-themed costume and tea party serving items from Tina’s Traditional Old English Tearoom. The event will also feature a photo backdrop and activities available for the little princes and princesses dressed in costumes.

Kid's Night Out - St. Patrick's Day

The Irsay Family at the YMCA CityWay – 430 S. Alabama Street

Saturday at 5 p.m.

If you plan to extend your St. Patty’s Day celebration into the weekend, this may be the perfect spot for your kids to have fun while you’re out. Those ages 5-12 will enjoy pizza, free gym time, games and movies.
