INDIANAPOLIS – Although Halloween falls on a Monday this year, it hasn’t stopped the fun from happening this weekend. In fact, most Halloween events are taking place this weekend and we have a great variety for you to check out (even some for those not in the Halloween spirit).

Here are your top six things to do in Indianapolis this weekend:

1. 70 years of Halloween fun

The Irvington Halloween Festival is celebrating 70 years of tradition through multiple events including: a 5K, scholarship pageant, ghost tours, a masquerade ball and haunted puppet show among other events. You read that right. It’s not just a one-day Halloween festival, it’s much more. Whichever you choose to attend is up to you, but the most popular Halloween street fair will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with pumpkin carving, costume contest and parade.

2. Celebrate Harry Potter style

If you missed the epic Harry Potter film showings in IMAX earlier this month, here’s your chance to relive the magic live in concert. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will hold six performances of The Harry Potter Film Concert Series at Hilbert Circle Theatre now through Sunday. The live symphony orchestra will perform music from the three Harry Potter films all while they play on a giant 40-foot screen. Show times and ticket prices vary.

3. Slip on your mask

Haunted houses and scary hayrides may not make your to-do list this Halloween weekend, but maybe a masquerade ball sounds more like it. Haunted Hilbert is a night of mystery, masks, food and drink. The event, taking place at the Hilbert Circle Theatre Saturday night, also supports the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s education programs. Try food and drink from Weber Grill, Shoefly Public House, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Sun King and many more. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and all attendees must be 21 and over.

4. Calling all characters

Can’t let go of your favorite childhood cartoon characters? Punch Bowl Social doesn’t want you to. This Saturday their 90s cartoon-themed Halloween Party & Costume Contest will kick off at 8 p.m. Punch Bowl offers food, drinks, and a variety of games. The winner of the costume contest will be announced at 1 a.m. and the first place winner will take home a $100 gift card. Other prizes include Colts tickets, Pacers tickets, Harry and Izzy's gift cards, Fogo De Chao gift cards, an overnight stay at the Conrad Indianapolis, and more.

5. Hell Night

Maybe Halloween weekend doesn’t mean costumes but cooking instead. This Saturday Chef JJ’s is spicing things up during their Hell Night cooking class. You’ll have the chance to try a five spicy dishes and a variety of pepper sauces hot enough to make you sweat. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and 50 percent of each ticket sold will be donated to Jim Campbell's Step Up For Charity. Better grab your tickets fast. Chef JJ’s cooking classes always sell out!

6. Costumes for a cause

This is your chance to dress as your favorite celebrity at The 17th Annual Costume Party hosted by Old SOUL Entertainment and The Indianapolis Black Firefighters Association this Saturday. The event will take place at Epic Ultra Lounge on the city’s north side and proceeds will benefit families in need during the holiday season. Over $300 will be given away in cash for best costumes.
