MILLERSBURG, Ind. - A northern Indiana town marshal is facing two misdemeanor counts for allegedly stealing panties belonging to his son's live-in girlfriend.
The Elkhart Truth reports 59-year-old Millersburg Marshal David Keith Hathaway was charged Wednesday with two misdemeanor counts of criminal conversion. Messages seeking comment were left by The Associated Press for Hathaway at his office and home on Friday.
A probable cause affidavit states the woman and Hathaway's son set up a hidden video camera that showed Hathaway entering their room and sniffing one panty and stealing another. She also says she found another of her panties in Hathaway's safe.
An initial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 15.
A message seeking information about Hathaway's status as town marshal was left Friday by The AP for town council President Jim Winkler.
