INDIANAPOLIS - A major construction project at interstates 465 and 65 are causing big delays in south-side traffic.
Crews closed the ramp from westbound I-465 to northbound I-65 on the south side of Indianapolis. The ramp was back open as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.
One lane of I-65 North was also closed in that area, but it later opened back up.
RTV6 traffic reporter Lauren Casey says the ramp closure and I-65 North lane restrictions were lifted at 6 a.m.
However, I-65 South started seeing closures around 6 a.m.: The left lane of I-65 South was closed for work. See map.
If you must take I-65 North into the city from south of Indianapolis, we suggest you leave early for your morning commute.
If you're headed north on I-65 on the south side:
- Take the Southport Road exit (exit No. 103) and take Southport Road west (left) to McFarland Road. Take McFarland north to Thompson Road. Take Thompson road west to Keystone Avenue. Take Keystone north, where it will pass under the interstate to where you can re-join I-65 North.
- Reverse these directions for a north-to-south detour.
