SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- As they kicked off their football season, the Triton Central community gathered to pay respects to four members lost in a plane crash last week.

Before kickoff at the Triton Central High School football game Friday night, players, coaches and fans took a moment to remember the Borinstein family – three of whom were killed in a plane crash a week ago – as well as German exchange student Maren Timmerman.

"There's so much pain you cannot comprehend it all at once," said Jane Riggins. "You can only do it a little bit at a time."

Hundreds of people gathered earlier this week for a celebration of life services for the Borinsteins and Timmerman.

One of the Borinstein children, Beau, was not on the plane because he had football practice. He was on the sidelines Friday for the season opener.

"Just to sit there and watch Beau and everything … I feel for him," said Triton Central student Taylor Berry.

The pilot of the plane, 64-year-old William Hamerstadt of Carmel was also killed in the crash, along with 73-year-old Robert Ross of Louisville.
